"If you stop struggling, then you stop life."

Growing up as a child, I had many thoughts and ideas about how life works. I pictured life to be simple and stress-free. I soon found out at the age of eighteen, my beliefs are wrong. I have discovered life to be more difficult than I have imagined. Life is full of stress and many emotions. I have learned " If you stop struggling, then you stop life." Not one person can say they live the same life as another. Each individual is unique and extraordinary.

At such a young age of eighteen, I already experience the stress that every adult struggles with, such as money. Since I got my job at age fifteen, I have been more independant. I have grown up in a family with the belief that you must work for what you want. Nothing will be placed in the palm of my hand. I can say that I have been working hard and I have a car to show for it. Not only did I pay for my car, I also pay my own car insurance, gas, phone bill, and now schooling. I no longer rely on my parents for money. As I get older, as the bills get bigger, I am realizing how difficult life truly is.

People have their own struggles in life. That is what life is about. No one can say life is easy. Life is difficult. There are ups and downs. There is pain and there is happiness. Without the difficulties of life,I would not be where I am now. "If you stop struggling, you stop life."

  2. i agree, but i think at the most one should only acknowledge struggle. If you go as far to say life IS a struggle then i think you are giving in, or even fueling your doubts. I'm not judging you and never will, but i mean it looks like you at least have enough money to take one college course and you live in America, and arguably rather decent part as well. Try living in a Third world country without food and water, an elementary education, and the constant fear of death murmuring over your shoulder, that's a struggles.

  3. This is pretty true, every day we are faced with stress. Forexample, school, work, worrying about money, not being able to hangout with friends and people that are close to one another, can give us that wave of stress and it will not end until we die.

  4. Overcoming obstacles and adversities help make you a stronger person. Without them, you wouldn't be able to learn and grow.

  9. Totally agree!!! Ive been pretty much on my own since 14. I love you outlook on stress though, you kind of add a positive outlook on it, when normally people are negative about stress. When in reality, what would life be without it?

  11. I TOTALLY relate to your bumper sticker philosophy. I am financially independent as well and paying for everything that you listed. Even before I read your essay I was like "Mmmmm good one!"

  12. I can definitely relate to your bumper sticker! I have been raised the same way. I work for everything that I WANT... my parents have made it very clear that there is a difference between what we want and need. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason... we just need to keep pushing through! Your philosophy reminds me of the saying "no pain, no gain."

  13. I can agree with you 100%. I'm constantly working, and it's never fun, but it eventually pays off. My family also always tells me that nothing will be placed in the palm of my hand, and that you have to truely work for what you want!! just remember, work hard, play hard girl :)
